Board and Card Games Group
Group Leader: Maureen Smith
We are a cheerful happy group of people who meet monthly, usually on the third Thursday, to enjoy the pleasures and challenges of various games, be they of the board or card game variety. Each session is rounded off with tea and biscuits, which somehow manages to feel like a treat in itself. Every month we play a game we haven’t tried before, as well as tested favourites. Early in the year we called on a leader to teach us a game called Ticket to Ride, which saw us building railway lines across Europe. There was great satisfaction when we achieved our goals! August saw us trying the game Chaos which truly lived up to its name! We were variously happy or totally frustrated as we tried to get our pieces home while enduring the handicap of being unable to identify our own pieces. Oh yes we rise to a challenge! The challenge in October was learning to play the card game Bridgette. Our leader on that occasion said the game was widely played in Devon, and we could understand its popularity, as we quickly got up to speed with the action and are eager to play it again.
Because we meet at the home of a member we are limited for space, but if you like the sound of our games, you are welcome to ask if there is a chair available for you. Contact Maureen using the enquiry form.
